Abstract: Brucellosis is a major zoonosis, which has been eradicated from ruminants in France. In human beeings, the disease is most often contracted abroad. However, the disease is still present in swine. In addition, cases have occurred in 2012 in cattle and in wildlife. Reporting of abortions and systematic serological screening are essential to monitor the recurrence of new infections caused by Brucella. The means of surveillance, including mandatory reporting of abortions and methods of control against the disease, are stipulated in new regulations, which are currently applicable to cattle and that will be applicable to small ruminants in the future.
