Bone scintigraphy is a valuable technique in the diagnosis of lameness in horses. However, it implies radiation exposure of staff members. Spectrometry during a bone scintigraphic examination (soft tissue and bone phase) was performed to determine efficiency of leaded protections, and the energy spectrum which should be detected for the staff working close to the horse by the electronic dosimeter. An annual dosimetry was performed on 90 exams with different detectors (photographic, scintillation and thermoluminescent detectors). The annual doses equivalents were below the dose equivalent limits fixed by safety regulation when basic radioprotection was respected.
